The Marriage Proposal Date:

One thing that I haven’t yet written about is marriage proposals. Of course there is no ‘right’ way to ask someone to marry you, but it is fun to think about how to make that moment especially heartfelt, creative, romantic and memorable. Some women may not care about the way you ask them (as long as you do) but many will remember that light bulb moment always. So, in the spirit of romance, here are some fun proposal ideas and stories for that special date day:
5 Proposal Ideas:
-Blow up a ton of balloons with love notes inside saying each reason you love her or want to spend your whole lives together. Make her pop each one and place the ring/ring box in one of the last balloons, or place the ring box underneath a big pile of the balloons.
-Do a scavenger hunt around your neighborhood, visiting places that were important to you both. You can end it at the site of your first date, where you can propose.
-Pick an especially romantic or special day to create a great ambiance. Some suggestions include Valentine’s Day, Christmas (she can open her ring in a box with her other gifts, in front of family), July 4th (with the fireworks) or the anniversary of the day you met (which shows you have a great memory!)
-Sing her a romantic ballad that reminds you of her at karaoke night and then propose on stage (you need a lot of guts for this one) or, even better, if you’re musical, write your own song.
-Create a quiet romantic evening including a homemade dinner by you, place candles everywhere, play a compilation of love songs that remind you of her and put the ring box on the dessert tray and propose over champagne.
Favorite Celebrity Proposal:
Heidi Klum & Seal -The day before Christmas Eve, singer Seal and supermodel Heidi Klum flew by helicopter to the top of a glacier in Whistler, B.C. At 14,000 feet above ground level, Seal proposed to Heidi in an igloo specially built for the occasion. Now that is original!
My proposal date memory:
On Friday July 7th and I came home from work and Ian surprised me with a candlelit dinner. Afterwards we went to Coney Island and walked to the boardwalk there (just like on our first date) and there were free fireworks that night. There were bands playing and we started to dance on the beach to the music. When Ian dipped me, he said, ‘I love you.’ Then he got down on one knee and said, ‘Will you Marry Me?’ I of course said, ‘Yes!’ He had designed a beautiful heart-shaped diamond stone with diamonds and pink sapphires on the band, because he knew that I loved pink. He said he wanted to ask propose at the site of our first date. On the Boardwalk, the man in the karaoke booth announced that we were engaged and everyone congratulated us. We went to the amusement park and rode the wonder wheel together, looking at all the lights from the highest point. Afterwards, I wanted him to have a token to remember that night too, so we found a machine in the amusement park that stamped a penny with the date and location. I had it made into a key ring for him.
It’s fun to create romantic moments and stories that compose your larger story together. These are some fun marriage proposal ideas. Please add your own or share other great proposal ideas that you have heard. You might inspire someone!
Thanks!
